Triumphant Quartet

The Quartet

“ ...let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that confess his name.” Hebrews 13:15

“Christ is the reason we sing,” proclaims the members of The Triumphant Quartet. David Sutton, Clayton Inman, Scott Inman, Eric Bennett, and pianist Jeff Stice form the acclaimed Southern Gospel group, the Triumphant Quartet. Their mission is to spread the Word of God through song and share the good news of Christ with other believers. Through the power of their beautiful harmonies, they testify to those who are searching and lost, with the hope that more souls will come to know Christ.

Formed in 2003, the then—named Integrity Quartet, began their ministry together at the Louise Mandrell Theater in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. “I truly believe that God put this together,” said Ms. Mandrell of the new gospel group. The founding members, all residents of Sevier County, Tennessee and active members of churches in their community, brought a combined 80+ years of singing experience and their own enthusiastic fans. The theater even created a special season pass so their fans could see them perform anytime. In addition to a full—time schedule at the theater, the group also performed all across the country.

In 2004, the Quartet signed with Daywind Records, the premier Southern Gospel recording label, and performed “Amazing Grace” for over 100,000 people at the University of Tennessee's homecoming game. In December of that year, after a nationwide contest to submit entries, the Integrity Quartet changed its name to the Triumphant Quartet. When the Louise Mandrell Theater became The Miracle Theater in January of 2006, the Triumphant Quartet remained, joining the Fee/Hedrick Family Entertainment Group. Their commitment to their mission remained steadfast, and their success was just beginning.

Every year, the Quartet and its individual members have been nominated for awards. In 2004, their single “I Bring You Forgiveness” was nominated for Top 10 song of the year by Singing News Fan Awards. In 2005, their CD “HomeFree” was nominated as a Top 10 Album of the Year. In 2006, their song “Don’t Let the Sandals Fool Ya” was #1 on the U.S. Gospel News Top 80 Chart and #6 on the Singing News Top 80 Chart. This song was also #15 on the 2006 Southern Gospel Music’s Song of the Year list. Their self-titled CD “Triumphant” was nominated as Top 5 Album of the Year by Singing News fans. In 2007, the Quartet received nine Top 5 nominations for Singing News magazine’s prestigious Fan Awards: Group of the Year, Favorite Album, Favorite Song, and individual nominations for all five members of the group. Scott Inman, baritone, was selected as the Young Artist of the Year. In 2007, Jeff Stice was voted the Stage Musician of the Year by the Southern Gospel Music Guild. He received the Harmony Award. This honor was voted by his peers.

2007 was another landmark year for the Quartet. They were honored to receive the Christian Music Presenters (CMP) Artist Endorsement, a designation based on “the values of musical excellence, ministry readiness, and spiritual integrity.” They were also awarded certification as American Gospel Music (AGM) Artists, the highest accreditation possible in gospel music. An invitation to perform in a celebration of American Gospel Music at Carnegie Hall in New York City rounded out this enormously successful year. The Quartet shared the stage with other prominent gospel music artists, a 200—voice choir, and the American Festival Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Eric Dale Knapp. Southern Gospel News.com praised their performance saying “The audience was electrified by the artistry of ... Triumphant Quartet ...” and “Show-stopping ovations came after the solo instrumental performances from Jeff Stice (Triumphant Quartet) on piano...”

2008 brought a new transition for the Triumphant Quartet. Because of their performance schedule at The Miracle Theater, they have had to turn down many concert requests. They felt the Lord leading them in a different direction. So after much prayer and consideration, they have decided to take their ministry on the road full-time. They are looking forward to the opportunity of performing in more concert venues and churches, making more new friends, and sharing the gospel of Christ all across the country.

With all of the accolades and success, the men of the Triumphant Quartet keep their work in perspective. They are truly humbled and grateful for the support their fans have shown for their music and ministry. They reaffirm that their main focus is to keep God first in everything they do. The Triumphant Quartet’s powerful combination of talent, commitment, and unwavering faith insures that the years to come will bring even more success...in God's name.

David Sutton

Tenor

Email David: david@triumphantquartet.com

David Sutton’s roots grow deep in the rich soil of Southern Gospel music. At age 10 he began playing drums for the Watchman Quartet in his native Goldsboro, North Carolina. His father, Denny Sutton, sang tenor with the group, providing young David with his earliest and strongest inspiration as a vocal artist.

At 15, David was invited to sing on stage with the Kingsmen Quartet during one of their performances. “There was something about that night that showed me what I wanted to do for the rest of my life,” he says. After high school, he set his sights on college but put those plans on hold when he got the opportunity to join Goldsboro’s Anchormen Quartet.

In the years that followed, David also traveled with the Anchorman Quartet and the Singing Americans and spent eight years performing with the resident gospel group at Dollywood theme park in Pigeon Forge. Over the past 13 years, he has been nominated multiple times for Singing News magazine’s Favorite Young Artist and Favorite Tenor awards.

As a member of Triumphant, David hopes to share his love of God and gospel music, as their group starts traveling full time. “My goal is to offer our audiences good, traditional quartet-style music,” he says. “That’s what I was raised in, and the music has shown me that the Christian life is a good life.”

David and his wife, Shay, have two daughters, Mallory and Abigail. They live in Sevierville, Tennessee.

Eric Bennett

Bass

Growing up on a farm in the small town of Battle Ground, Alabama, Eric Bennett learned the value of hard work. However, singing in area churches with his brothers and cousins also showed him the value of music in his life. “My mother used to take me to hear local gospel groups,” he says. “Later, I heard the Kingsmen and the Cathedrals and decided that’s where I wanted to be.”

Over the next several years, Eric’s work ethic carried him through a series of careers, including Pastor of a Baptist church. But after two years in that position, he felt God calling him to resign—although he wasn’t exactly sure why at the time. Two weeks later, however, God’s Will was made clear when Eric was offered a job singing at Dollywood. He went on to perform for 12 seasons at the Pigeon Forge theme park. During that time he was nominated nearly every year for Singing News magazine’s fan award for Favorite Bass Singer.

Eric is excited to see where God leads them this year, as they travel full time for their music ministry. Eric and his high school sweetheart, Dana, have been married since 1985. The couple has two children—daughter Erin and son Zachary. The Bennett family has lived in Sevierville since 1991, with no plans to move. “Why would a person ever want to leave the most beautiful place in the country and the best job anyone could ever have?” says Eric.

His career kicked off in 1983 with the Singing Americans and included a stint at Dollywood from the late ‘80s to the mid ‘90s. He then helped form the acclaimed group Won by One, which recorded the number-one hit “King Jesus” in 1999 and received gospel music’s Horizon Award for Best Group. Clayton will soon have 25 years in the music ministry.

Clayton’s powerful solo artistry and ability to communicate God’s message through music have helped make him one of the best lead singers in the industry. He has received numerous fan award nominations from Singing News magazine, including Favorite Lead Vocalist.

Clayton and his wife, Michelle, married in 1981 and have lived in Sevierville, Tennessee, since 1989. They have a daughter, Jordan, and their son, Scott, now shares the stage with his dad as Triumphant’s baritone singer.
